It is 1988 and Hiroshima detective Ogami is an old school cop notorious for cutting deals with yakuza to solve cases. His partner, rookie cop Hioka disagrees with his methods. Investigating a simple kidnapping, Ogami drags him along a trail of pachinko bars, yakuza lairs, and brothels, where they discover that a war is brewing amongst the yakuza. The Hiroshima underworld is about to explode and Ogami could be the only one skilled enough to diffuse it.

Stylish, fast-paced and hyper-violent, Wolves was nominated for 12 Japanese Academy Awards including Best Film, Actor and Director. Winner of the Hochi Film Award – Best Picture.

昭和63年、暴力団対策法成立直前の広島・呉原。いまだに暴力団組織が街を牛耳り、新勢力である広島の巨大組織・加古村組と地場の暴力団・尾谷組との抗争抗争がくすぶり始める。そんな中、加古村組関連企業の金融会社社員が失踪する。暴力団絡みの殺人事件と睨んだベテラン刑事・大上（役所広司）は、さっそくエリート新人刑事・日岡（松坂桃李）を引き連れ捜査を開始するが…。
