Interview with Chiyo Seko

Chiyo Seko was born on May 4, 1923 in Wakayama Prefecture, Japan. She talks about her childhood in Japan. Chiyo talks about her childhood taking care of her family’s cows. She met her husband and had three children in Japan. Her husband emigrated to Canada for his employment. Later, Chiyo and her children would join him in Canada. Chiyo talks about work and making friends. Chiyo talks about her religious views and her frequent visits to the temple both in Japan and Canada. She then talks about the culture differences between Japan and Canada. She continues to talk about her social activities and social life. Chiyo talks about her involvement with the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre (JCCC). Chiyo talks about teaching dance while in Canada and her interest in music. Chiyo talks about things she’s doing now in her current age and that she enjoys living in Toronto.
