Henry Sugiyama was born on January 26, 1927 in Vancouver, British Columbia. The interview is about Henry Sugiyama and his family life in Vancouver, Kamloops, Donald, and Vernon. He discusses his father’s business ventures before his retirement and eventual death at a hundred years old. He wrote a novella about his father’s experiences. He attained a school education as a pre-engineer first before pursuing pre-med and medical school. He did not complete his residency, instead moving to Toronto where he completed a locum (temporary replacement doctor in a clinic) which turned into a permanent job. He eventually took over as owner of the clinic until he retired at the age of 72. He appreciates that the redress happened and provided as much support as possible.
