The interview was conducted on July 29, 2010, by Lisa Uyeda. Roy Takumi Honda was born on April 3, 1922 at Whiterock, BC. Roy talks about schooling, working in sawmills, and moving to work with his brother at Woodfibre, BC before the war started. He describes family celebrations and religion and how it changed throughout the war. Roy talks about how his family found out about the bombing of Pearl Harbour and being sent to Tashme Internment Camp. After that, Roy was sent to road camp at Taft, BC to work on building the Trans Canada Highway. He lived in 11 Mile Camp. After war, the camps emptied first and he went to London, ON to work in a tannery. His family left from Tashme to Hamilton, ON. Roy talks about how the Jewish community helps the Japanese Canadians out after the war and where to find Japanese food in Eastern Canada. He talks about his family's reaction to the Japanese Canadian Redress. Roy also talks about family hobbies and how they are doing in Hamilton.
