THE DANCING OKAMI

The key to a great ryokan and hot-spring inn is the “okami” – the female proprietor of the establishment and a scion of elegance, hospitality and professionalism. Yuka Higuchi who lives in Tokyo as a tap dancer is also the only daughter of a long-established inn in Kaga Onsen, Ishikawa Prefecture. Now she must return to her parents' home to begin training as the okami. Due to her natural clumsiness, Yuka has a difficult time but faces every challenge with courage and positivity.

When the local authority launches a project to revitalize the Kaga region Yuka pulls together a team of new local okamis to hold an event throwing dance back into the spotlight. A lively up-beat musical comedy set among the traditional hot-spring inns of the famous Kaga Onsen region. Nominated for Best Film at the Silk Road International Film Festival.
